This year, while we feel the honor of celebrating the 40th year of the foundation of the Turkish Respiratory Society (TRS), the oldest society of Turkey under Breast Diseases specialty, we are again preparing our 32nd National Congress, RESPIRATION 2010 that would befit the 40th year in scientific and social content with an effort to exceed ourselves.

   Under the light of positive feedbacks after RESPIRATION 2009 and the commentaries of our guests and our self-critiques, we wish TRS 32nd National Congress RESPIRATION 2010 to be an organized meeting that conforms to the requests of the physicians working in the field according to our basic targets by combining the scientific program with a modest yet qualified social program.

   For the decision of the venue of RESPIRATION 2010, we found Antalya – Gloria Golf Resort Hotel well suited for our meeting considering the fact that there is an incremental rise of the participants through years and participation of 1300 people in the last congress, your recommendations and also other factors such as cost analysis and the condition of meeting halls.

   In the Scientific Programme, we are planning to include training courses, panels, conferences, counter-view meetings, updated meetings, specialty student session, case presentation session s and paramedical subjects about profession of a physician and areas of specialty and share these under the guidance of expert professors and create the room for expression of the young colleagues. We will implement two courses that are included in the congress program this year in collaboration with two International Societies. One of these courses is, Interventional Bronchoscopy Course that we will collaborate with Europe Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology Society and the other is Radiology Course in Diffuse Paranchimal Lung Diseases that we will collaborate with European Respiratory Society. In line with this, many experienced and valuable international scientists will be participating and RESPIRATION 2010 will be the place for scientific exchange with many new ideas and practices.

   We will organize the congress sessions in four parallel halls in RESPIRATION 2010 as it was last year. E-poster application enabling the presentation of images such as videos that facilitate presentation and preparing for the participants will continue this year and it will include the disciplines of our specialty Chest Diseases and converging and overlapping disciplines of Chest Surgery, Pediatrics, Rehabilitation and Physiology. While forming a framework for the scientific program we wish to structure these so as to allow discussions and exchange of ideas in common sessions.

   As a part of Turkish Chest Disorders Proficiency Board, TRS established a new organization under the name of “TRS ACADEMIA” to provide TRS courses, Certificate Programs, Regional Symposiums, Online Education, planning and execution of educational projects by National or International societies during 2009. As the foundation of this structure, 13 work groups established under TRS frame and implementing their projects successfully, will organize their own meetings during congress as usual and make evaluations and planning for the future. We invite our valuable participants to actively work in TUSAD under domains of branches or work groups during congress.

   During the year of 2010, established as the World Lung Health Year and as a part of TRS’s efforts in increasing traditional social sensitivity, social theme will continue as the Global Warming and its effects on lung health.

   We hope to share the knowledge and beauties in a peaceful, green and calm environment in RESPIRATION 2010 which we have been preparing carefully and we believe you will find qualified information that you, our colleagues need during daily practice.
